ANNUAL PLUNKET BALL FUNCTION AT COLLEGIATE SCHOOL. The members of the commi.t.o responsible lor the arrangement of tne Plunket Society Ball, held in the "big school” at the Collegiate scnool laj. evening, have every reason lo uc proud ur tneir organising SKUI, for tne oall was a great success. Being the King's Birthday, It was fitting chat the decorations in tne school should be in keening witn tne occasion, and red, white anu blue uraping„, nags anu bunting were useu witn picturesque effect round tne gallery and on the walls and puiurs. The musicians’ dais, arranged al minorth end ot the scnooi nail, was similarly decorated, wnile in a prominent position was a Ute-like figure 01 a large stone carrying a baby. Tan pink canuies, set in Tudor canalesiicks, twinkled on tne length ot the white cloths on tne long tauies in the college dining hall, where a sumptuous supper was served. The tlorai decorations on the tables were >n snaues ot pink, choice blooms o. pink hydrangeas, Iceland poppies, single cajnelia;., geberas, heatn, ana arranged with red oernes and autumn loliage in decorative baskets in various shapes. Mrs J. Nixon, assisted by helpers, was responsible tor tne north uecorations, anu Mrs V.eenes for the tlorai arrangements ol the large centre table, in the centre o. which stood the Fiunxei birthday cake, decorated in silver, rhe floweis in the room set apart for the bridge players were arranged by Miss ivloi.lgoptery Moore.

Continuous music was provided by two orchestras, the New Gaiety a.m the Star.
