ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY
Sir,—l understand that through the enthusiasm of Mr. V. B. Willis and others the Wanganui Orchestral Society is slowly building up a gallery of photographs of old orchestras that did good work in Wanganui up to 40 years ago. So far a splendid collection has been made, but why stick to old orchestras? The Wanganui Orchestral Society is the oldest society of its kind in New Zealand and the past conductors and secretaries have done wonderful work in keeping it up to such an excellent pitch right through the years. Photographs of these gentlemen could possibly be collected now but it would be impossible later on. As a player of 40 years ago and a keen friend of all the conductors and secretaries I know that such a collection would be much admired and would also be a tribute to those who have done such excellent work In the interests of good and fine music. Trusting that some notice will be taken of this suggestion. 2nd VIOLIN.
