NO WARRANT OF FITNESS
CAR OWNER BEFORE COURT THE FIRST WHANGAREI CASE WHANGAREI, June 4. The first case of its kind in Whangarei under the new motoring regulations came before Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court when Eric Carley was charged with not having a warrant of fitness for his motor vehicle. Mr. J. H. Ashton, borough traffic inspector, said that defendant said he had not attempted to take out a warrant of fitness, as he only used the car occasionally. "I reported the facts to Wellington and was advised to take action,” added Mr. Ashton. The magistrate said this was the first case of the kind he had had. A fine of 10s and costs was imposed.
