WEATHER FORECAST
.Meteorological Office, Wellington, Friday, June 4, 4 p.m. General Situation.—A deep and complex westerly depression is crossing the Dominion, while an intense anti-cyclone covers Australia and is extending on to the Western Tasman Sea. Forecast.—Winds: North-westerly to westerly at first in most places but a change to southerlies extending from the south over the Dominion by to-morrow morning; force moderate to strong generally and of gale force at exposed positions. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough to high on the west coast and about Cook and Foveaux Straits, elsewhere moderate but later rising. Eastern Tasman Sea: Southwest to southerly winds, strong to gale force with rough to high seas. Weather.—Still squally and changeable with heavy rain at times in most districts and in places thunder and hail. Temperatures becoming very cold with snow on the high levels, but improving tomorrow on the West Coast of the South Island.
