THE LONDON MARKET Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated May 28:— Frozen meat quotations (prices on a “delivered” basis, i.e., including storage charges, cartage, market tolls, etc.); —North Island Down lambs, 28 to 361 b, 7id per Jb; 36 to 421 b, 7d per lb. Best North Island crossbred lambs, 28 to 361 b, 7 3-8 d per lb; 36 to 421 b, 7d per lb. North Island second quality lambs, average, 30 to 311 b, 7d per lb. Best North Island wether sheep, under 481 b, 51d; 48 to 561 b, 4 7-8 d per lb; 56 to 641 b, 4 3-8 d per lb; 61 to 721 b, 4 3-8 d per lb. North Island ewes, under 481 b, 41d; 48 to 561 b, 3 7-8 d per lb; 56 to 641 b, 3 5-8 d per lb; 64 to 721 b, 3id per lb. New Zealand prime ox beef, none offering. Compared with last week's quotations, Down lamb was l-8d per lb higher; crossbred lamb, 28 to 361 b, l-8d per lb higher; 36 to 421 b, id per lb higher; wethers, l-8d per lb higher; ewes, 48 to 561 b, l-8d per lb higher. Others unchanged. The lamb market continues firm, particularly for lightweights. The mutton market has a better feeling all round. LONDON LAMB MARKET FIRM. Lambs: Market firm; immediate prospects good. Wethers: Market steadier. Ewes; Market inclined steady. Beef: Prices nominal. Porkers: Market steady. Baconers; Market slow. Tallow; Prices nominal. I Ox beef: Hinds, 4d to 41-8 d; fores, 31d; cow hinds, 3id to 3 5-60; fores, 3d. Porkers: 6ld. Baconers, 64d. Tallow: Fine mutton, 29s 6d; sweet beef, 27s 6d; good mixed, 25s 6d. Henry S. Fitter and Sons, Ltd., have received the following cable report from their London office:—Lambs: The market has improved, owing to shorter supplies. Wethers: The market is becoming firmer owing to small supplies available. Ewes: The market is dull, and little business doing. Chilled Beef: The market is rather unsteady, but no material change is expected in the near future. Pork: The market is quiet and unchanged. Trade is generally fair.
