SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES

WELLINGTON PRICES LOWER. There was a further general easing in the prices of sheepskins, hides and tallow at the sale seld on Friday by the Wellington brokers. Sheepskins: Dry skins were again strongly competed for, but prices for most grades showed a decline on last sales rates of id to Sd per lb. Shortwools and pelts were generally Id lower. A fair offering ol salted skins was submitted, prices being practically unchanged. Hides: Some good parcels were offered, values for all grades being easier, heavy, medium and lightweights by Id to id per lb., kip, yearling and calf by Id to lid per lb. Tallow: A small offering, values declining by Is 6d to 2s per cwt. The range of prices is as follows; Hides: Ox, 331 b. to 441 b., 61d to Bid; 451 b. to 521 b., 6 5-8 d to 8 7-8 d; 531 b. to 591 b., 9ld to lOd; 601 b. to 691 b., 9 3-8 d to 10 3-8 d; 701 b. and over, 9Sd to lOid; cow, 331 b. to 391 b. 4d to 8 3-8 d; 401 b. to 481 b., 51d to Sid; 491 b. and over, 7id to 9 l-8d; kip, 251 b. to 321 b, 7d to lOd; 171 b to 241 b, 7d to 12d; yearling, 111 b to 161 b, 6d to 14d; calf, 91b to 101 b, 7d to 13 7-8 d; 61b Go 81b, 7d to 16Sd; lib to 51b, 8d to 163 d. Sheepskins: Half bred, 12s to 143 d; fine crossbred, 13ld to 143 d; medium crossbred, 121 d to 143 d; coarse crossbred, Hid to 14id; half-wools, lOid to 14Jd; quarter-wools, 73d to 123 d; pelts, 7d to 9d. Salted skins: Quarter-wools, 4s to 6s 7d each; half-wools, 5s 3d to 8s 8d; three-quarter-wools, 9s; full-wools, 9s 6d; lambs, 4s 6d to 6s lOd. Tallow: In casks, etc., 19s to 23s per cwt; in tins, 10s to 14s. Sundries; Cow tails, Hid per dozen; horse hair, 233 d per lb.
