BROTHERHOOD MEETING

OXFORD GROUP’S VISIT There was a large attendance at the Brotherhood meeting on Sunday afternoon when the Oxford Group team paid its first visit. Proceedings were opened with the hymn “Oh For a Thousand Tongues to Sing,” followed by the Lord's Prayer led by Archdeacon J R. Young. Mrs. Young, who presided, gave an interesting account of the foundation of the Oxford Group Movement and the power behind it. It was a decision in life and its aims were honesty, purity, unselfishness and love—a God-controlled world. Human nature was the real problem; if that could be changed then the world would be well on the way to solving its economic, social and national problems. Moral recovery had to come before economic recovery could be made permanent. Witness to the movement was given by Mrs. Wallace, Miss Joan Campion, Mr. E. Jones and Archdeacon J. R. Young. It was announced that a Coronations service would be held next Sunday when the preacher would be the Rev. A. C. McLean, M.A. A solo was sung by Miss S. Ashmore. The accompanists were Mrs. Wright and Sister Ashworth. The meeting closed with the singing of the hymn “Hail Our Brotherhood Foundation.”
