THE CORONATION BALL
GARRISON BAND’S TASK. It is pleasing to note the co-opera-tion that is being shown by local organisations in connection with the Coronation Day celebrations on May 12. A big task, which is in the hands of the members of the Wanganui Garrison Band, is the organising and running of the Coronation Ball. This function is to be held in the Carlton ball-room, above Harman's garage, and elaborate preparations are being made to ensure the success of the function. The members of the McKay Gaieties Company have kindly offered to assist by presenting a number of items, while the Garrison Band, in addition to playing for the grand march, will present a popular programme prior to the commencement of dancing. It is hoped to have present representatives of all units of the military forces, and the various uniforms mingling with beautiful evening gowns and gay decorations will certainly leave, for all those present, a scene long to be remembered.
