WEDDING

HOWARD—MATHLESON The wedding took place at St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, Wellington, last week, of Laura Mary Marguerite (Gypsey), daughter of the late Mr and Mrs J. W. Mathieson, of Auckland, and Alec Percy, son of Mrs and the late Mr Howard, Greatford. The bride Is the grand-daughter of the late Hon. G. Fisher, for many years a Parliamentary representative and also Mayor of Wellington. Her mother was a concert singer whose splendid contralto voice was greatly admired. The church was decorated with bowls of pink gladioli, the altar vases beingarranged with the same beautiful flowers by Lady Shirtcliffe. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr F. M. B. Fisher, wore a becoming frock of turquoise blue cioque, with full sleeves embroidered in gold. Her hat matched in colour was of fine straw, and she carried a shower bouquet of beautiful pink roses and long sprays of pink heather. The bridesmaid, Miss Margaret Howard (sister of the bridegroom), wore biuetoned floral chiffon and a hat to match, and carried a bouquet of “shot silk” roses. Mr Eric Clere was best man. The wedding breakfast was held at the home of Mrs J. B. Mac Ewan (aunt of the bride), Fitzherbert Terrace. Mrs Mac Ewan received the guests (relatives of the bride and bridegroom), wearing a frock of black marocain beaded in white, her wide black hat had a stiffened upstanding tirmming of net, and she carried a bouquet of deep red roses. Mr and Mrs A. P. Howard will make a tour abroad before taking up their residence at their home at Greatford.
