WANGANUI CENTRE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE POLO MATCH INCIDENT A decision to hold a special meeting on Thursday, February 11, to discuss incidents arising out of a polo championship match at Wanganui East last Thursday night was arrived at by the executive committee of the Wanganui Swimming Centre last night. The referee of the match reported that, following the refusal of the Wanganui East team to continue the game after half-time, he had awarded the match to the Gonville team. Mr. P. L. Dickson, president, was the chairman, and also present were Mrs. (Capt.) Bonner, and Messrs. F. Lind, J. Heald, A. Gurney, C. A. Palmer, C. Downey, A. Bryson, C. Thrush, H. Hawke, R. Harrison and F. W. Bridges (hon. secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. H. Tyler and A. Muller. A suggestion from the Raetihi I Swimming Club that a party of Wanganui swimmers be brought through for the carnival to be held on February 27 (Raetihi Show Day) was received, and It was decided to encourage swimmers to attend, though no definite arrangements could as yet be made by the centre. It was decided to add the following junior championships to the district championships programme already announced:— Wednesday, February 24, at Central Boths.—22o yards boys’ freestyle, 75 yards boys’ breaststroke; 50 yfrds girls’ freestyle; boys’ dives. Thursday, February 25, at Wanganui East Baths.—loo yards boys’ freestyle; 100 yards girls’ freestyle 50 yards girls’ breaststroke, girls’ dives The secretary reported that arrangements were well in hand for the carnival to be held at the Gonville baths next Monday night, on the occasion of the Australian surf team's visit, and that the programme would be circulated immediately. A committee was set up to arrange for supplying light refreshments for centre helpers and the Highland Pipe Band prior to the carnival, on their return S' 01 ?! V? 0 beach demonstration at Castlecliff.
