ACCESSION TO THRONE ROYAL PROCLAMATION TO-DAY I OBSERVANCE IN WANGANUI | His Royal Highness, the Duke of York, will be proclaimed King George VI. throughout New Zealand at 2.30 p.m. to-day, in succession to his elder i brother, Edward VIII. As the day happens to be the 41st. birthday of King George VI., a national holiday is being observed. The Mayor of Wanganui (Mr W. J. Rogers) has requested all citizens to assemble at the steps of the Opera House at 2.30 p.m. to-day, when the proclamation will be read in Wanganui. This ceremony will be carried out by the Mayor, and at the conclusion of the reading, the National Anthem will be sung. The procedure will be similar to that at the proclaiming of King Edward VIII., only last January.
