When the big Empire flying-boat now under construction take over the operation of the mail routes next year, each flying-boat will have c "flight clerk” in ils crew, whose duties will be similai to those of c purser on board ship. The magnitude of the carrying task which will fall on Imperial Airways when all Empire mails go by aii would represent 1650 tons of mails yearly. About ten tons, representing nearly two millions letters, would be leaving England by air weekly.
