BRITISH REPRESENTATIONS INTERIM JAPANESE REPLY. [ British Official Wireless ] Received Nov. 24, 9.20 p.m. RUGBY, Nov. 23. Mr. Eden stated in reply to a House of Commons question that the Japanese Government had sent an interim reply to his representations regarding the ill-treatment of three British naval ratings by Japanese officials at Keelung, Formosa. This reply had expressed regret that such an unpleasant incident should have occurred and had stated that further inquiries were being made in the light of the report of the British Naval Court inquiry at Hongkong. “Pending the receipt of a satistactory final reply from the Japanese Government,” Mr Eden added, “I am unable to regard the incident as closed.”
