NEW ZEALANDER'S DEATH

BODY FOUND IN STREET CIRCUMSTANCES A MYSTERY SYDNEY, Nov. 24. Staling that (he circumstances surrounding the man's death were a complete mystery, lite city coroner returned an open verdict when he inquired into the death of Avon Alexander West. The medical evidence was that, death was due to a fracture of the skull and injury to the brain. A Sydney message on September 19 stated: An injury received in New Zealand about a month ago is believed to have been the cause of the death yesterday of Avon Alexander West, aged 24, who arrived in Australia three weeks ago. West's body was found in a street, of a suburb. A few minutes earlier he was seen walking along the street dressed in pyjamas and an overcoat, and evidently in pain. A Government medical officer found that, he died from a fracture of the skull, although there was no external fracture. West, who is thought to have been a boxer in New Zealand, had complained of feeling ill both on the trip over and since his arrival, although he had been working every day. Inquiries are to be made in New Zealand, and arrangements have been made to send the body home.
