WANTED BY AMERICA BRITISH SOVEREIGNTY NOT RECOGNISED Received Nov. 24, 9.5 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 23. The Associated Press Washington correspondent says that air-minded Government officials are casting covetous eyes on Christmas Island. Slate Department officials declared: “Tne United States does not recognise British sovereignty there." It is oelieved the question will be opened through diplomatic channels on the basis of the United States “reservation ot all questions" arising in 1888 when Britain took over.
