Meteorological Office, Wellington. Tuesday, November 24, 4 p m. General Situation.—A depression of moderate intensity covers tne Dominion, its centre to-day lying west of the North Island. An anticyclone extends from Australia on to the Tasman Sea. Forecast.—Winds: North-easterly to easterly at first, over the North Island, strong in the northern half and in places reaching gale force, but elsewhere moderate south-easterly to southerly prevailing in the south and moderate to strong southerlies soon becoming general. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, elsewhere moderate but rising south of -Kaikoura and in Foveaux Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong southerly winds of gale force in the northern portion but decreasing to-morrow; seas rough. Weather.—Unsettled, dull and misty with rain in most districts and some heavy falls, more especially in central districts and on the east coast of the South Island. Thunder probable in places. Temperatures becoming cooler. Conditions improving soon, however, on the west coast of the South Island and later an improvement setting in generally.
