WOOL AND RAYON
NEW CLOTHING MATERIAL IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENTS MORE WOOL 55 ILL BE USED. By Telegraph— Press Association —Copyright! LONDON, Nov. 22. The Australian Associated Press special Manchester correspondent reports important developments in the 1 use of staple fibre. Rayon is being [blended 50-50 with Australian wool, I spun on cotton machinery. This is an ; entirely now outlet for wool. While | short Cape wools can be utilised, the ■ main development appears to be tn ;64's. 56's, and 48's. Australian tops are guillotined to the correct staple of I lengths for spinning yarns used for [dress goods and hosiery. In the latter ■ case it is mainly interlock .underwear 'with warm soft, handle, which is exIpected to be most popular in the I men’s trade. It is predicted that the fibre will make wool more attractive and more versatile, and that the fringe of possibilities has hitherto only been touched. The impression is that the staple fibre with wool for dress, hosiery, and furnishings will tend to reduce the consumption of cotton and increase the consumption of wool.
