I IN CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL i PROSPECTS OF SUCCESS j "Exceptional interest is being lake! in the Christinas and New Year Carnival, and 1 have no hesitation in saying that it is going to be a phenomenal success,” declared Dr. G. J. Adams, president of the Carnival Committee at last night’s executive meeting of the Wanganui Tourist and Development League. "Wo have the co-operation of everybody and the pessimistic suggestions that the carnival could not possibly succeed at ' that, time of the year have been blown to the winds.” ] Dr. Adams reported that all spade I work was now completed and final details would be attended to at the next committee meeting. Whole-hearted co-operation was the by-word at present. So far as he could see the greatest problem would be that of accommodation. Something concrete in this direction was necessary. Dr. Adams suggested that the military authorities and others be approached and enquiries made as to what canvas will be at disposal of the committee. He mentioned several suitable sites where camps could be established. In addition, the Savage Club Hall, the Health Camp buildings lat Gonville and other similar places | may be available. Mr W. J. Gibson Hughes said present indications so far as the success lof the carnival was concerned was I very gratifying. No doubt people in i the town and country were talking i about the carnival and were prepared to give it every assistance possible.
