PATEA WEDDING

O WEN—McKE NN A In St. Patrick’s Church, Patea, on the evening of September 23, Kathleen, sixth daughter of Mrs E. McKenna, Patea, was married to Sinclair Bailey, second son of Mr and Mrs J. N. Owen, of Kakaramea. Rev. Father Broughton officiated. The bride, escorted by her uncle, Mr J. A. McKenna, was charmingly gowned in silver matalasse. Shirring was on the* shoulders of the slim fitting bodice, with long bell shaped sleeves, the high neckline finishing with a diamante clasp. The panelled skirt fell to the ankles and a silver girdle outlined lhe waist. A coronet of sequins and orange blossom buds caught the lovely hand-embroidered veil of tulle to her head and the veil formed a train. Her shoes were silver, and an arm sheaf of arum lilies completed the toilet. Little Jocelyn Logie, niece of the bride, wore a sweet frock of green satin, the short bodice having puff sleeves, and the ankle skirt being finished with a large frill. She wore a Dutch bonnet of green silk straw, red shoes, and carried a basket, of red flowers. Mr F. McKenna, cousin of the bride, was best man. and Mr E. Owen, I brother of the bridegroom, was groomsman. A reception was held at the residence of the bride’s mother. Mrs McKenna receiving her guests in a figured morocain frock worn under a black tailored coat. She wore a fur stole and black model hat. Her posy was of golden brown wallflowers. Mrs Owen was in an ensemble of black trimmed in fawn, wore a black • picture hat, and her posy was mauve 1 anemonies.

When Mr and Mrs Owen left by car for the north, the bride was wearing brown panne velvet, with a smart fawn and brown check saunter coat, brown model hat with eye veil, and matching accessories.
