Collegiate School Break-up The annual break-up ceremony of the Wanganui Collegiate School will be held in lhe big school on Monday, December 14. The guest of honour will be the Governor-General, Viscount. Galway. Regatta Crews in Training The crews selected to represent lhe Union, Aramoho, and Wanganui Rowing Clubs in the various events at the Boxing Day regatta at Sandy Hook and the Jury Cup regatta on lhe previous Saturday commenced their training on the river last night. Wanganui Wool Stores Some of the Wanganui wool stores were open on Saturday morning, but others were closed in consequence of the men adhering to a decision not to work on Saturdays until some finality was reached on Ihe subject of a 40hour week. I Proposed Air Service "I interviewed the manager of Union Airways with regard to Wanganui being omitted from the schedule of the proposefl Wellington-Auck-land air service and was informed that conditions still remain the same,” reported the president (Mr W. J. Gibson Hughes) at last, night’s executive meeting of the Wanganui Tourist and Development League. "The three main factors, time, hazards, and costs may be attributed as being the reasons why Wanganui is nob being included. Gibson Hughes) said lhe matter of a special illustrated booklet concerning Wanganui's many tourist attractions was now under consideration. While in Wanganui for the recent show, both Messrs A. H. Messenger (Government Tourist and Publicity Department.) and G. G. Stewart (publicity manager, New Zealand Railways) had spoken in favour of the idea. Mr Messenger had assured lhe league of all possible cooperation in the matter of writing suitable articles and it was mainly through Mr Stewart that Wanganui was to form the subject of a special article in the New Zealand Railways Magazine, for which purpose Messrs O. N. Gillespie and Leslie Hinge were now visiting lhe city. Referring to the proposed booklet. Mr Hughes added that the suggestion would shortly be put before the New Zealand Tourist and Publicity Department in the hope of eliciting its sun-

I . Topographical Map Referring to Wanganui as the ' southern gateway to the alpine districts and thermal regions of the North Island, Mr G. F. Pownall said at. last night’s executive meeting of the Wanganui Tourist and Development League that, ho had prepared a topographical map of Wanganui and district which demonstrated ils central position with regard tn tourist attractions. This map, which was of a tentative nature only, would be submitted to the New Zealand Government Tourist and Publicilv Department in the near future.
