HEALTH CAMP

FUNCTION OF CITY QUEEN REPERTORY SOCIETY PLAY A variety programme was promoted in the Repertory Theatre last night to aid the campaign of the city candidate (Miss Merle Spurdie) in the Health Camp Queen Carnival. Among the items, which all greatly pleased the audience, was a one-act play, “Beauty for Sale,” produced by Mrs R. E. Cuthbertson and played by a talented group of Repertory Theatre players. Miss Spurdie was warmly received in two numbers, and in a duet with Mr Gamble. The Savage Club party contributed two pleasing items. The complete programme was as follows:—Dance, Miss Anderson: solo, Mrs Leslie Hall; dance, June Healey; solo, Mr D. Gamble; dance, Betty Hurst; recitation, Miss Alice Rodgers; dance, Miss A. Gannon; solo, Miss Merle Spurdie; dance, Pat Healey; glees, Savage Club party; one-act play, “Beauty for Sale"; solo, Miss Leslie Hall; recitation, Miss Alice Rodgers; dance, Mr G. Dawson; conjuring, Mr Ross Robbins; duet, Miss Spurdie and Mr Gamble. The cast for the one-act play was: “Madame Geraldine," Stella Cuthbertson; “Laura” (a daughter), Dorothy Miller; “Jane" (another daughter). June Strouts; “Mrs Hoyden Lyle," Stella Richardson; “Audrey Lome,” Hilda Bassett-Smith; "Mrs Smithson." Ngaire Rowe. During the evening a competition was decided and the first, prize, an Oriental rug, was awarded to Dr. 11. D. Robertson, Ingestre Street.
