The liner Queen Mary had a stormy crossing from New York and docked at Southampton 3* hours late. Eight , passengers and four of the crew were , hurt. Mrs Fieldsend, an elderly thirdclass passenger, was removed from the ship’s hospital to the hospital at ! The Queen Mary’s sistership, 522, ! has already been insured in British I markets for £3,250,000, while being » constructed. This is the largest | ' amount insured for any merchantman i } in similar circumstances. Brokers are i ! confident that the market will eventually exceed £3,500,000. A severe gale in the Channel today forced many vessels to seek shelter and caused the first cancellation of the new train ferry service between Dover and Dunkerque. The ordinary cross-channel mail steamers experienced very bad passages.
