TWO PERSONS POISONED SHEEP DIP POWDER TAKEN FOR SULPHUR FATHER AND DAUGHTER DEAD [ Ter Press Association. ] WHANGAREI, Oct. 16. A tragedy occurred at remote Thom's Landing in the Far North, when a father, making what he thought was a simple family medicine, prepared a deadly potion which caused the death of himself , and his daughter. The victims are: Mr. C. Griffiths, aged 40, and two-year-old Annie Griffiths. The family had recently taken possession of the home and Mr. Griffiths found a yellow powder which he believed was sulphur, but which was sheep dip powder that had been used as an insecticide by the previous occupants. He mixed some with treacle, took a dose himself and gave some to Annie, but the wife and Elsa, and the eldest son, refused owing to the disagreeable taste. When the father and daughter became violently ill the wife rode on horseback to Tekao, but the victims died before help arrived. Thom’s Landing is one of the most northerly points ol the gumfields and is very remote. _
