WAITOTARA

A SUCCESSFUL DANCE. The dance held by the Nukumaru Hall Committee on Tuesday evening proved a popular function. A large number of dancers from Wanganui, Waverley, Waitotara and surrounding districts attended. Hooker’s Melodymakers played the music and Miss E. Travers and Mr. S. Gordon gave vocal items. Monte Carlo winners were Miss Dowdall and partner and Miss E. Travers and partner. A competition was won by Mr. Broughton. Messrs. H. Hammond and S. Forsythe were PERSONAL. Constable Baskin (late of Marton) has taken up his duties in the new Police Station. Mrs. D. BJackie has returned from Palmerston North. Mr. Tucker. Waipukurau, has been appointed to the local Post Office in place of Mr. R. Lee, who has been appointed to the Waiuku Post Oflice. Mr. Tucker has commenced his new duties. Miss R. Matthews, who has been spending a holiday in Waitotara, has returned to Auckland. Miss E. Parkinson spent a few days in Wanganui.
