“I Became so Dazed."
In an article published in the .Saturday Evening Post, Schmeling, the German heavyweight champion, < accused the negro heavyweight, Joe 1 Louis of deliberately striking low*' blows during their recent encounter in New York. Schmeling cites alleged deliberate instances of low hitting in the eighth and twelfth rounds. Interviewed in Detroit, Joe Louis vigorously denied the charges. "If I did hit Schmeling low I am sorry,” said Louis. ’ I was just in the ring throwing punches, and I became so dazed that I did not know what 1 was doing. Oh no occasion did I deliberately foul him.”
