LORD MAYOR OF LONDON
CEREMONY AT LORDS [British Official Wireless] RUGBY, Oct. 12. The place of the Lord Chancellor, who is ill, was taken to-day by the Lord Chief Justice in the ceremony at the House of Lords of conveying His Majesty’s approval of the appointment of the new Lord Mayor of London. Addressing Sir George Broadbridge, Lord Hewart said he was entering upon his office at a memorable moment in the history of London and of England, at the beginning of a year which would see the coronation of the King and which they hoped would mark a new epoch of peace and prosperity for the country.
