INTEGRITY OF BELGIUM

PROTECTION AGAINST AGGRESSION Received Oct. 14, 11.50 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 14. The Morning Post’s diplomatic correspondent says that the Belgian Government is planning a policy which may fundamentally affect the Western Pact negotiations. Belgium, :t Is now stated, will not subscribe to the new Locarno, but will suggest the following proposals ps an alternative:— (1) Belgium tn undertake to protect her own territory against foreign aggression. (2) Britain to undertake to come to the immediate assistance oi Belgium in the event of such aggression. Belgian policy thus would be based on the principle of neutrality and it is emphasised that the integrity of Belgium is also the best guarantee of British security.
