Morton that a surfaceman in his particular riding be supplied with a ton of manure for his property which had been improved. Cr. Duigan, who was instrumental in getting a resolution passed at a previous meeting that a surfaceman in his riding at Kariol receive a ton of manure, seconded the motion put forward by Cr. Morton. A number of councillors expressed their opinion that if the practice continued there would be no end to n, and the precedent should never have been created. Cr. Berry contended that with the increased rate of pay the employeel could pay for their manure. On the motion being nut it. was lost. Cr. Morton: Inconsistent! Never have I seen such inconsistency since I have been a councillor. At a later stage of the meeting, Cr. Morton asked if he could put a notice of motion forward that, the motion nassed at the previous meeting granting the surfacemen at Karioi the manure he rescinded.
