I I A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. t The Town Hall was packed on Fri- ( day night when the Bulls School c annual ball was held, and as a result t it is expected that about £3O will be netted for the school funds. Mr. L. c V. Homes (hon. secretary) and other 1 members of the School Committee had I everything well arranged; Misses But- t ton. Butement, Duggan and Ralfe looked after the little dancers on the j dance floor; and Mrs. L. V. Homes and c a strong committee of ladies attended t to the supper arrangements. The [ grand march was very effective, the t gay costumes of the pupils making a- I orettv sight. Folk dancing was r another feature,’ and the children I proved to be well trained to play thenparts. Mr. W. Sutherland played 1 Highland airs on his bagpipes, the i following dancing the Highland fling i and cheantrubas; Dorothy and Gor- i don Sutherland, Beryl Mackay, Mar- s ion Bailey, Nora Cornfoot, Phyllis \ Lundy, James Lundy and lan Jamie- c son. Loveday’s orchestra played bright i music, and extras were supplied by Messrs. McDermott (2), Ingram and ; others. A Monte Carlo was won by t lan Jamieson and Betty Corn foot, and a statue dance by Rosie Clark and I Fred Jurgens. Competitions were s won bv Messrs. L. Hill and T. Ellery, j Mr. F. C. Jurgens, chairman of the School Committee, thanked patrons I and all who assisted to make the ball such a success, and took the oppor- j tunity of testing the feeling of parents regarding the annual picnic, an overwhelming majority favouring the holding of a picnic. Among those present were several past teachers, 1 including Mrs. Ashworth (nee Hen- , derson). Mrs. F. O. Bailey (nee , Moxham), Mrs. D. Lundy (nee Ander- < son).
