PAREWANUI

The Parewanui Women's Institute held their monthly meeting at Apa House on October 7, Mrs Tattle presiding. Final arrangements were made for the flag 500 and dance to be held on Friday, 16th. During the afternoon Mrs Dixon (nee Miss Tricker) was presented with a wedding gift. Business was concluded and the remainder ot the afternoon was spent, socially. Winners of the various competitions were as follow:— Peeling potatoes behind back, Mrs L. Sansonadvertisements, Mrs Huddleston and ttfrs Anderson. Mrs Tricker and Mrs Bell kindly judged the monthly competition. Results were: Mrs Russell 1, Miss H. Russell 2, Mrs Bower 3. The roll call, "What my husband thinks of the institute,” caused considerable amusement. An enjoyable afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of the Na--ional Anthem.
