Her tulle veil held with orange blossoms, and worn over the face on entering the church, fell to a long second train. She carried lemon roses with a trailer of snowdrops. Miss Jean Smith attended as bridesmaid, and wore a frock of pale lemon corded silk, with a silk lace yoke and shirred godets, swathing her figure to fall into a train. Blue flowers were worn on her lemon picture hat, and her muff was of lemon shades. Mr. Innes Harkness acted as best man. Mrs. Boyle entertained her guests at a reception at her residence, and was frockcd in black triple georgette, with a black hat trimmed with large blue flowers. Her posy was of primroses. Mrs. Jones, Palmerston North, aunt .of the bridegroom, wore navy blue morocain, with toning accessories, and carried a posy of spring flowers. When the bride left by car, she wore a blue wool georgette ensemble, with hat to tone, skin shoes, purse, and grey gloves. Wellington will be the future home of Mr. and Mrs. Geertson. GARDEN PARTY At a meeting of parishioners of St. Mary’s Parish on Snuday last it was decided to hold the carnival garden party in aid of St. Mary’s Convent (Hurworth) on Saturday, November 28. Plans for the fixture were discussed, and every endeavour is being made to make it the success it has been in past years. ARAMOHO MOTHERS’ UNION VISIT TO PUTIKI An interesting afternoon was spent by the Aramoho branch of the Mothers’ Union on Tuesday, when some twenty of the members went, with Canon and Mrs Williams to hold their monthly meeting, and to see the Maori carving and panelling work being carried out for the new church at Putiki. A short service was held in the old church, at which Sister Elsie, of the Koriniti Mission Station, gave an interesting and helpful address on the realisation of the presence of God as the link which binds all mothers together, illustrating her points from her own work on the river. After the service the party visited the new church and saw the Maori carvings and rafter paintings, which are being executed by a team of experts in the old school room. A move was next made to the social hall at the pa, where the twelve women and girls are putting the final touches to the fifty-six tukutuku panels which were displayed rounu the walls. The party were welcomed by Mr Mete Takaranagi on behalf of the Takarangi family, and Mr Pine Taiapa, the head carver, gave a most interesting talk on the symbolic meaning of the various designs woven into the tukutuku panels. Canon Williams replied, giving a brief history of the four previous churches erected at Putiki, and expressed the indebtedness of the local Maori Church to Sir Apirana Ngata and the Rotorua carvers for their work in connection with the new church. The members of the Mothers’ Union, carvers, weavers, and local natives had afternoon tea together for which the Mothers’ Union had brought a goodly supply of cakes, a couple of Maori action songs, gracefully rendered by the tukutuku weavers, brought a pleasant afternoon to a close.
