PLAZA TH

“POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL” Shirley Temple is surrounded by a veritable gallery of Hollywood’s brightest stars, including Alice Faye, I Gloria Stuart, Jack Haley, and j Michael Whale, in “Poor Little Rich Girl,’’ commencing at the Plaza Theatre to-day. Add to the star and the cast a modern, stirring, romantic story and five bubbling new song hits by Mack Gordon and Harry Revel, and you have a few of the r-jiaonu why “The Poor Little Rich Girl’ is being so highly spoken of. Snirley, of course, plays the title role. She is seen as the daughter of Michael Whalen, a wealthy young business man who is far too occupied making money to devote much time to his daughter. Shirley persuade* her daddy that she should. be sent to boarding school, where she can associate and play with other little children. Whalen agrees, hut instead of attending to the task himself, delegates Sara Haden to a .'company her to the school. Waiting for the train, Shirley wanders oir and the busy sidewalks of New York lure her on to adventure. She is entranced by Tony, the organ grinder, and follows him to his home. 1 any already has a large family, but the new 'bambina ’’ so wins him that he lets her stay with his other children. In tlie mean time, Miss Haden has been run over by an automobile, and during the following days Shirley’s absence goes unreported. Jack Haley and Alice Faye, an out-of-work vaudeville team, notice Shirley singing and dancing. Haley is inspired with the thought that she is just, what the act needs, and, despite Mis Faye’s prostrations, she is taken into the act. Then Shirley's adventures really start.
