W.D.F.U.

TERAKINA BRANCH The Turakina branch of the W.D.F.U. had a very well attended meeting on August 27 at which the president, Mrs Harris, gave a short talk on “National Health Insurance.” A remit for provincial, proposed by Mrs Perry, seconded by Mrs Major, “That owing to prevalence of goitre the Government be requested to inquire into the lowering of the price of iodised salt.” Mrs Wickham, Dominion vice-presi-dent, gave a very interesting talk on "Child Psychology,” in a very capable manner, which was appreciated by all. The report of the annual dance held on August 7 was both a social and financial success. The New Gaiety Orchestra supplied the music, and judging by the talk, the crowd thoroughly enjoyed the popular numbers ■ played. The supper was in the hands of a very able bodied committee. The i playing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought ithe evening to a successful close.
