SATURDAY HALF-HOLIDAY
PAHIATUA’S DECISION [Per Press Association! PAHIATUA, Sept. 18. At Monday's meeting ot businessmen in Pahiatua, where professional and businessmen of all types were given a voice and power to vote, a change to Saturday half-day was carried by a majority of 34 votes to 23. The meeting also decided that the change be made on the first Saturday in October, after a previous amendment making the change on January 3 was moved by the Wednesday adherents had been lost by one vote. It was obvious from the tone of the latter section that they had no intention of closing in accordance with the resolution passed and would rather have a divided town. This body organised a meeting of bonafide retailers governed by the Shops and Offices Act last night, when a decision was arrived at by a large majority that Saturday half-day be observed after the Christmas and New Year trading had been completed.
