11 /11 j i mi GOLF. The members of the Waimarino Golf Club spent an enjoyable day on Sunday in ideal weather, many taking part in a flag match. The men’s flag was placed on the 19th hole by both Robinson and Anderson, Des Forges and Sims reached the 19th hole. W. Boswell had three strokes to spare. Robinson and Anderson will play off at some future time. Among the ladies Mrs. Windle was the first to take the flag past the 18th hole. She had one stroke to spare and used it to good advantage by driving a ball well down the 19th over the ditch. Mrs. Marshall failed to out-drive Mrs. Windle. The winner turned up in Mrs. Strachan, who, having two strokes to spare, duffed her drive but with a good second outdistanced Mrs. Windle. The following are the handicap reductions resulting from the day's play:—Des Forges 11-18; Anderson 20-15; Robinson 20-15; Sims 26-20; W. Boswell 32-24. The committee is anxious to see as many Cup matches as possible played, as the season is getting well advanced. The Taumarunui players are expected to pay a visit on September 10. WRESTLING. The Raetihi Wrestling Club has made arrangements for a tournament for next week, when several Wanganui amateurs will take part. The list is as follows, Wanganui men being mentioned first: —C. Hanson (10.4) v. J. O’Neill (10.3); E. Garland (10.5) v. N. Mosen (10.3); V. Gibson (9.7) v. H. Dobson (9.7); M. Tonga (9.12) v. G. Pederson (9.10); L. Northover (9.9) v. H. Ward (9.5); E. Mete Kingi (9.0) v. R. Mabbott (9.0); S. Vine (8.7) v. G. Wade (8.7). The main contests will be a duration of three 3-minute rounds and preliminaries two 2-minute rounds. FOOTBALL. The Raetihi juniors were defeated at Karioi by Athletic, 10 to 10. Rangataua defaulted to United so there was not a senior game at Raetihi. United now have one point over Raetihi. The Cup final will be played between Raetihi and United next Saturday.
