"Love” was the subject of the les-son-sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, August 2. The golden text was I John 4:8, "He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love.” Among the citations which comprised the lesson-sermon were the following from the Bible: “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you; continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in His love.” (John 12:7-10). Also the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy: "With one Father, even God. the whole family of, men would be brethren; and with one Mind, and that God, or good, the brotherhood of man would consist of love and truth, and have unity of Principle and spiritual power which constitute divine science. We walk in the footsteps of Truth and Love by following the example of our Master in the understanding of divine metaphysics. Christianity is the basis of true healing. Whatever holds human thought in line with unselfed love, receives directly the divine power.” (pp. 469, 192).
