CANTERBURY POTATOES
SHIPMENTS TO SOUTH AMERICA [Per Press Association] TIMARU, Aug. 5. This week the Huntingdon took 1000 tons of potatoes from Timaru for Monte Video and to-day the Raranga was loading a further 300 tons for the same port. The possibilities of developing the South American market appear to be bright and in order to investigate the position fully, Messrs. Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., are sending a representative to Monte Video. He will spend two months in South America ascertaining the type of potatoes best suited to the requirements of the country and generally investigating the possibilities of developing the market, which, if established, will be of great benefit to growers in South Canterbury.
