Y.M.C.A. CLUB INTER-CLUB KUN r MARTON’S BIG WIN The second leg ot the inter-cluo competition between the Marton and Y.M.C.A. Harrier Clubs was neid at Wanganui on Saturday afternoon over the Y.M.C.A. Clubs championship course. The result ol the event was an easy win tor Marton, who scored 56 points to Y.M.C.A. s lib. In the first leg held at Marton recently the Marion Club secured 64 points and Y.M.C.A. 106 points. The final points were Marton 120 ano i.M.C.A. 220. F. Hill (Marton) was tiie first man home and was followed by his club-mate, D. Smith, N. Edge and G. Bromley. A. G. Collings was the first. Y.M.C.A. runner to finish ana filled sixth place. Marton had its team of nine home in the first 13 places, the ninth member of the Y.M C.A. team finishing 10th. At the conclusion of the race the competitors were entertained al afternoon tea at the Y.M.C.A., when the shield was presented to Mr. Dashford, president of the Y.M.C.A. Club, Mr. N. R. Wallace. Congratulations were extended to the Marton Club by Mr. Wallace, Mr. W. S. Jones, a member of the Board ot Directors of the Y.M.C.A., and the general secretary, Mr. Lance Cross. , Mr. Cross paid a tribute to the work of the ladies’ committee in providing afternoon tea for the competitors and they were accorded musical honours. Cheers were also given for Mr. A. G. Collings tor his work in building up the Y.M C.A. Club. The placings were as follow:

Carde at Westmere on Saturday afternoon. The race was held over a two-lap course of 7* miles. The greater part of the course comprised road work and the runners were hindered by side and head winds for most of the distance. A field of 24 runners competed from a 12-nfinute handicap. Sixteen runners finished the course, a fast pace being maintained throughout. The first man to cross the finish was C. Weller (scr.), who was followed by A. Bourgeois (Imin.). K.
