GRIM DISCOVERY
WOMAN’S BODY IN WARDROBE SYDNEY SENSATION Received June 19, 11.55 p.m. SYDNEY, June 19. Tbf* woman occupant of a residential in Clarence Street, close to the Byduey Harbour Bridge, made a grim discovery this afternoon when she called a locksmith to open a wardrobe in an upstairs flat. She was confronted with lhe body of a woman who apparently was strangled about a week ago. Detectives were quickly on the scene but did not touch the body, which was in a crouching position on the knees, until a close examination had been made by the Government pathologist, Dr. Sheldon, who discovered a strong cord strained tightly round the dead woman’s throat, sufficiently in itself to cause death. He also noticed injuries to the head from which it would appear that the victim was first rendered insensible with a heavy instrument and then strangled. The victim was about 35 years of age. The residential keeper told the police that a man occupied the flat until about a week ago, when he disappeared with tihe keys, including one for the wardrobe. The dead woman was a complete stranger to the other occupants of the residential. The police are making every effort to locate the man
