Meteorological Office, Wellington, Friday, June 19, 4 p.m. General Situation. —The recent depression is passing eastwards but another though less intense one is advancing across the South Tasman Sea. Pressure is still high over Eastern Australia and the North Tasman Sea. Forecast. —Winds; Moderate to strong southerly over the northern half of the North Island, elsewhere moderate and freshening westerlies but winds shortly again becoming south-westerly generally. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough about Fovcaux Strait, rather rough to rough on the west coast, elsewhere moderate but later rising south of East Cape. Eastern Tasman Sea: South-westerly to southerly winds, moderate with moderate seas in the northern portion, strong at first with rough seas in the southern portion but later moderating. Weather: Cold and changeable with scattered showers, mainly fair, however, in eastern coastal areas and conditions later gradually improving in most districts.
