WINTER MEETING OPENS BRIEF REVIEW OF CARD. The Napier Park Racing Club, like Wanganui, is a sufferer through the clashing of holiday dates, the fields being of average dimensions only, with the largest number in the Moteo Hack Hurdles and the Maiden Scurry. The betting will be under the single-pool system with dividends in the proportion of 75 and 25 per cent. The stipendiary stewards’ account shows: Salaries £2324, deputies’ fees £251, travelling expenses £6lO, fees supervising trotting events £125, which with petty expenses makes a total expenditure of 3317. In the racecourse inspectors’ account salaries amount to £2826, deputies’ fees £154. travelling expenses £568, insurance £27 10s, typewriter for inspector £l2 12s, or a total of £3591.
