Silvanus (Cole) went a round at three-quarter pace, sprinting the last two furlongs in 26sec., and moving well. ON AWAPUNI TRACKS PREPARING FOR WANGANUI THE FINAL GALLOPS. The course proper, with the flags near the outside fence, was available for “fast” work at Awapuni on Thursday, states the Manawatu Daily Times, but the going was dead and the horses were digging in quite a way. Tinies were taken, but they were very slow. Among those to gallop were Prince Reno (B. Browne) and Tail Light (W. J. Broughton), and they were together over eight furlongs, which they cut out in 2.14, the first five being run in 1.17 J. Tenaere (W. E. Pine) and Balbus (C. Robinson) put five furlongs behind in 1.17. Bazaine (R. Feasey), alone, broke 56sec. for half a mile. Happy Hunting (W. J. Broughton) and Dawning Light (G. Tajtersall) were companions over half a mile, being clocked to run the last three in 43sec. Forest Glow (G. Tattersail) and Tangled (L. H.
