DELAYED BY FOG

ULUMILIJ DI IUU AIRLINER KORIMAKO ‘ t 20 MINUTES ABOVE 'DROME. 1 [ Pit Press Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, June 15* } Union Airways airliner Korimako j was a little more than an hour late in arriving at Wigram aerodrome this morning because of fog, and 20 minutes of the delay was taken up in circling about Christchurch waiting for the mist to clear so that the pilot, A. G. Gerrand, could see the landing ground. The north-bound machine had no trouble in lading at Christchurch, but after it left for Blenheim the fog rapidly grew’ worse and the Korimako coming south had bad weather all the way down from the Clarence River. On arrival at Christchurch the pilot was unable to see the ground, and rather then fly on to Ashburton, which he knew r from radio communications was fairly clear, he chose to circle the city and the Port Hills waiting for the ■ fog to clear. He could be seen and heard from the ground and was in constant two-way radio communication with the aerodrome. He liuady made a perfect landing, taking advantage of a break in the fog. The machine later left for Dunedin. The north-bound machine, which had no trouble at Christchurch, was delayed for a little time at Blenheim because of fog.
