MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE
AUSTRALIAN- DUEL CASE Received June 15, 5.5 p.m. SYDNEY, June 15. Eric Newlands has been committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter in connection with the death of Wiliam Duncombe. The coroner said that the evidence jid not support a more serious charge jf murder. It was reported from Sydney on June 1 that when he was alleged to have refused to fight a duel with rifles at Boomi, near Mudgee, William Duncombe, aged 32. a farm worker, was shot through the chest and killed instantly, according to the police. Subsequently Eric Williams Newlands, aged 2(5, was remanded on a charge of having murdered his brother-in-law William Alfred Duncombe.
