BOUT AT NEW YORK
CARNERA HELPLESS NEGRO GETS T.K.O, DECISION Received May 28, 11.30 p.m. NEW YORK, May 27. Leroy Haines (14.4), negro heavyweight boxer, defeated Primo Camera (18.13) to-night on a technical knock out after the ninth round had pi'f-ecded 40 seconds. The Italian was no match for the American, who from the opening of the first round, when he had his opponent wobbling on the ropes, until the end of the match, punished him pretty severely. Not that Camera did not fight back. He had a distinct advantage in the second and third rounds, when he hammered the negro about the head. From then on, however, the former champion weakened badly, and, pawing his way aimlessly about the ring, absorbed large amounts of punishment. He was barely able to make his corner unassisted after the eighth round, and in the ninth, during a melee, he apparently injured his left leg. He began to reel and the referee stopped the bout.
