AMENDMENT BILL MANUFACTURERS ALARMED [ Ptir Pre*s Association. ) CHRISTCHURCH, May IL It is the intention of the Canterbury manufacturers to urge the Government to postpone the pas.sa.ge of the Factories Amendment Bill until fresh representations can be made A discussion was held to-day on the amending provisions of the Bill, especially those clauses providing for increased wage rates, substantial rises in the rates for holidays and overtime, which it was stated was unavoidable in some industries. It was stated during the discussion that the continued existence of some industries would be inipeiUled by the heavy increase in costs through the now provisions. Th'?«-e industries gave employment to thousands of workers.
