STEADY INCREASE
JEWS IN PALESTINE ARABS MAKE DEMANDS CESSATION OF IMMIGRATION LONDON, May 111. The Arab antipathy to the Jews in Palestine is attributable to the great increase in the Jewish population since the war. The News-Chronicle says that powerful Arabs, who are leading the country wid-e strike, have issued a categorical demand for the cessation of Jewish immigration, and also threaten nonpayment of taxes ns a political weapon. The ratio of Arabs to Jews was eight to one in 191(1. Now it is four to one and is still decreasing. Jewish immigration is limited to J9,-100 annually, exclusive of those bringing in £lOOO. j
