In a boxing contest at the Civic Theatre to-night, Roy de Gaus, a negro, degeated Ray Nicol, of Ohai, heavyweight champion of New Zealand, on points. De Gans’ weight was 12.0 and Nicol’s 12,7. The theatre was crowded, and hundreds were unable to get in. It was a splendid contest, De Gans, who had a clear margin of points in his favour, giving an impressive display of boxing.
