ANNUAL MEETING
CHRIST CHURCH PARISHIONERS. At the annual meeting of Christ Church parishioners, held on Tuesday, in the Parish Hall, there was an attendance of over 200. The vicar, Ven. Archdeacon Young, 31. A., stated in his annual report that ho had never before known such a fine and liberal display of flowers, fruit, and vegetables as was supplied at the harvest festival this year. Mrs. S. Davis, convener of the Decorators’ Guild, and her helpers, deserve great credit. The recently-held garden party at the residence of Mrs. Hope Gibbons, at which an address was given by 3lrs. Houston ,of England, was greatly enjoyed and proved very successful, The well-attended choir nt Christ Church came in for favourable com meat. The report presented by Miss M. E. Murcb. hon. secretary of the choir, at the parishioners’ meeting, states that arrangements have been finalised whereby the boys of the parish will in future receive a thorough grounding in the rudiments of music and the cultivation of their voices, and that buttonhole badges have ben presented to the lads of the Choristers’ Guild. The Venerable Archdeacon J. R. Young placed on record his appreciation of the contribution which the organist and choir have made to the worship in Christ Church and commented favourably upon the healthy state of the Boy Choristers’ Guild recently established, which has been ably carried on by Messrs. WentworthSlater and R. Cargill. Appreciation of the work of the Sewing Circle of Christ Church was expressed, and the splendid work carried out by Mrs. G. H. Lawrence, with Mrs. Hine as secretary, in providing clothing for folk in need. Deep sympathy was expressed to the wife and children of the late Mr. A. E. Dowsett. who was for some time a member of the vestry of Christ Church
