HORSES POISONED
“A SORRY BUSINESS” DUNEDIN COMPANY’S LOSS 1 DUNEDIN, May 5. Two horses belonging to the Gain Forwarding Company, Ltd., have died as a result of the presence of poison in the animals’ food or water, and a third is not expected to live. Four of the horses were found to be suffering from the effects of poisoning oq Sunday morning and two of them died. A post-mortem examination this morning revealed that the poison was probably arsenic. Mr. Gain can offer no explanation as to the cause of the tragedy but stated that it was a sorry business and had disorganised his work. Half-draught horses of the type which bad died were not easily acquired and, at any rate, they cost about. £6O each.
